Ko Wen-je plans island-wide tour to connect with locals (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party (TPP) presidential candidate Ko Wen-je announced on Tuesday (Oct. 31) that he plans to embark on an island-wide tour from Yilan County in late November to visit industries, listen to residents' concerns, and hold public speaking sessions.
During a press conference, Ko readdressed the principles proposed at the time of his candidacy declaration on May 20, advocating for a "harmonious society, national governance," the establishment of a "united government, a united Taiwan," and "Taiwanese autonomy, cross-strait peace."
The TPP contender expressed that up to 60% of the Taiwanese people anticipate a change of ruling parties, as they are fatigued by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) placing its interests above the nation's.
Ko criticized the ruling party, saying the DPP is different from 30 years ago. He said: "When the DPP initially endorsed the party (TPP), they held such ideals. We once supported them; now, we are dumbfounded at their present state."
