Delivery drivers rally to support exhausted firefighters (TVBS NEWS)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Exhausted firefighters rested on Pingtung roads on Saturday (Sept. 23) after a devastating fire at a golf ball factory claimed the lives of six people, including four firefighters.
In a heartwarming gesture, delivery drivers pooled funds to provide food and drinks for the firefighters, showcasing the resilience and solidarity of the Taiwanese community in times of adversity.
The blaze, which began around 6 p.m. on Friday, raged unabated for hours, emitting plumes of thick smoke. The intense flames were exacerbated by large quantities of easily combustible rubber and plastic beads stored in the factory.
The fire is suspected to have been sparked by an explosion of chemical substances, possibly natural gas and alkane. Many firefighters, pushed beyond their limits, struggled while trapped workers looked for salvation.
