PINGTUNG (TVBS News) — The Pingtung District Prosecutors Office sought assistance from the local branch of the Association for Victim Support on Saturday (Sept. 23) to aid the families of the factory explosion victims in freezing Launch Technologies' assets to prevent them from fleeing.
The request came one day after an explosion at a golf ball manufacturer's facility in Pingtung Science Park claimed six lives, left 98 injured and resulted in four individuals being reported as missing as of Saturday noon.
Leading the investigation into the incident's causes and fatalities, the Prosecutor's office has coordinated with the Pingtung County Police Bureau. Their joint efforts are focused on comprehensive case management and protecting the affected individuals' rights.
In addition to their mission, three prosecutor teams have established a presence at the Mortuary Service Office in Pingtung City. These teams are conducting autopsies and collecting samples for DNA identification, a critical step in confirming the identities of the deceased.
The profound impact of the explosion has prompted swift action in the pursuit of justice and closure for the victims' families.
