Thunderstorms expected in southern Taiwan, rain gear advised (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Due to the influence of a Pacific high-pressure system, southern regions of Taiwan, especially in mountainous areas, are under a thunderstorm warning for Monday (Sept. 18).
Kuan Shin-ping, a weather forecaster at the Central Weather Administration (CWA), explained that a front will likely develop in the north by Wednesday or Thursday, potentially bringing rain to Greater Taipei in the early afternoon.
Kuan added that the northern and eastern regions may experience the northeast wind on Friday and Saturday, leading to scattered showers. However, these precipitations could be mild.
In addition, a typhoon could form during the mid-autumn festival (Sept. 29 - Oct. 1). In response to this, Kuan noted that a low-pressure area is likely to develop in the eastern sea of the Philippines after Saturday. He cautioned the public to prepare for a potentially more active tropical system in the near future.
You are advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and take necessary precautions as the situation develops.
