Hsinchu mayor contests indictment, cites political motive (TVBS News)
TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Hsinchu Mayor Kao Hung-an criticized her indictment on Tuesday (Aug. 15), claiming political motivation and linking it to her transfer of the Hsinchu Municipal Baseball Stadium case to the Control Yuan for investigation two weeks ago.
In response, Premier Chen Chien-jen emphasized that the issue is under judicial investigation. He appealed to Kao to focus on the matter and avoid bringing unrelated subjects into the case.
The Taipei District Prosecutor's Office indicted Kao under the Anti-Corruption Act a day earlier. Adding to the controversy, Kao suggested that individuals, including former Hsinchu Mayor Lin Chih-chien, could be identified as negligent officials in the Hsinchu Municipal Baseball Stadium Case.
