TAIPEI (TVBS News) —  The number of individuals affected by the food poisoning outbreak linked to a Vietnamese-French baguette market vendor at Zhongshan Market has risen to 489 as of Wednesday (Aug. 9).

Among the samples collected for analysis, seven individuals have tested positive for Salmonella, a dangerous bacteria strain.

In response to the escalating situation, Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has initiated an "International Cuisine Restaurant Inspection Project (異國料理餐廳稽查專案)," urging vigilance among establishments offering foreign cuisines.

The FDA highlighted that Salmonella can be commonly found in animal products such as eggs, dairy, and meat, as well as in fresh fruits and vegetables.

Salmonella infections have an incubation period of six to 72 hours, with symptoms including nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever, and headache, typically lasting 4 to 7 days.
