KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — The first stationary front of the plum season will likely arrive on Tuesday (June 13), bringing short-term heavy rainfall and localized torrential rain to various regions, particularly in southern areas, as forecasted by the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).

The effects of this stationary front will be evident from Tuesday through Saturday, with Friday and Saturday expected to witness the highest precipitation levels as the front positions directly above Taiwan.

While the front is expected to shift away from Sunday onwards, rainy weather is anticipated to persist in Taiwan due to prevailing southwestern winds until the day before the Dragon Boat Festival on June 22, as indicated by the CWB.

The arrival of the stationary front and subsequent heavy rainfall have significantly improved the water scarcity situation in southern regions, prompting Kaohsiung to lift all water rationing measures on Monday (June 12).

For today's weather precautions, the CWB has issued heavy rain advisories for Pingtung County and Taitung County as a stationary front lingers in the southern waters of Taiwan.

Thunderstorms and short-term rainfall are expected in the central and southern parts of Taiwan, including Taitung. In contrast, sporadic rains, with a chance of short thunderstorms and localized showers in the afternoon, may be experienced in northern areas such as Yilan and Hualien.

It is advisable to carry rain gear when venturing outside. Temperatures in Taiwan are projected to reach highs ranging from 28 to 32 degrees Celsius, with lows expected around 25 to 26 degrees Celsius.
