KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — A deliberate act of targeted retaliation occurred on Monday night (June 5) when a black car crashed into the service center belonging to Li Yu-ting, a councilor from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), in Daliao District, Kaohsiung.
Law enforcement authorities, who promptly responded to the incident, have determined that it was not an accident but a deliberate act of retribution. A suspect was apprehended around 11 p.m. and is currently under investigation.
The incident was captured by surveillance cameras, revealing the deliberate and abrupt reversal of a black sedan, followed by a purposeful acceleration that propelled the vehicle through the glass door. The driver, wearing a white shirt, swiftly exited the car and immediately fled the scene.
Subsequently, the police identified and apprehended the suspect a few hours later. This individual was found to have been involved in debt dispute negotiations at the service center earlier that day. Dissatisfaction with the negotiation's outcome, facilitated by Li Yu-ting's assistant, was the motive behind the act of retaliation.
The forceful impact shattered the glass door, leaving it askew and causing shattered fragments to litter the floor. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Li Yu-ting strongly condemned violent acts on Facebook to denounce the incident. She emphasized the importance of seeking resolution through rational communication in cases where dissatisfaction arises, urging individuals to refrain from resorting to violence.
Unfortunately, the service center faced further repercussions following the incident. It became the target of a malicious late-night prank involving food orders. Delivery personnel arrived at the center with shrimp and bubble milk tea, totaling over NT$6000, only to discover that the center was closed.
The escalation of the debt dispute negotiations into a series of subsequent acts of violence and malicious pranks was unforeseen. It is crucial to emphasize that resorting to violence is never a good approach, and communication should always be the preferred method for resolving disputes. Failure to do so only invites consequences and hampers the achievement of a satisfactory resolution.
