TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan has set an ambitious goal of banning the sales of gas-powered vehicles by 2040, with a target of 30% electric vehicle market share by 2030 and 60% by 2035.
By accelerating the establishment of charging stations and carefully considering other power supply factors, Taiwan can popularize the adoption of electric vehicles and accelerate its transition toward a greener future.
To support the transition to electric vehicles, Taiwan is striving to establish 250,000 charging piles by 2025.
As of 2022, Taiwan has 4,380 charging piles, with Taipei having the most, followed by Taichung and New Taipei.
To make it easier for electric car owners to find charging stations, a charging service provider has launched an app that displays the locations of nearby charging stations and the number of available slots.
The charging service provider also aims to set up more piles in locations frequently visited by car renters to promote the trend of electric cars in the car rental market.
However, in addition to establishing more charging piles, it's crucial to consider other power supply factors, such as diversified facilities, including battery exchange and recycling stations, to ensure the smooth operation of electric vehicles in society.
Those who have yet to become familiar with electric vehicles can choose to rent electric cars with charging stations in cooperation with charging service providers to experience their usage.
