TAIPEI (TVBS NEWS) — As Taiwan's military spending increases amid an unstable situation across the Taiwan Strait, concerns are mounting over the Legislative Yuan budget plan.

The Republic of China (Taiwan) Military Police's recent purchase of new vehicles for their motorcycle fleet has sparked criticism.

The 202nd command's Quick Response Company, responsible for defending the Taipei Garrison, spent NT$60 million on new Indian Challenger motorcycles.

However, military experts have questioned the effectiveness of these motorcycles in actual combat.

While acknowledging their importance for military shows, experts like Taiwan Center for Security Studies (TCSS) director Mei Fu-hsing argue that they may not be the best option for combat situations.

"The motorcycles' off-road capability is far inferior to off-road bikes or all-terrain vehicles. But this does not mean that the Quick Response Company's motorcycles are completely useless on the battlefield," Technology Monthly editor-in-chief Lee Ssu-ping said.
