TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Legislator Kao Chia-yu encountered vocal dissent from within her own party on Thursday (Jan. 12) during a policy meeting.
Kao has received much criticism lately due to her opposite views regarding the ruling party's policies.
Earlier this week, she said the government's excess tax revenue is not a political "achievement" but an "administrative failure," stressing that authorities should consider tax reform.
Kao was attending Vice President Lai Ching-te's policy presentation on Thursday when DPP members demanded her to "step down," "leave," and "remain quiet."
Kao kept her cool and quipped: "You are very energetic and should use this energy to continue to support the DPP."
In her attempt to appease dissent, she was also met with a subtle yet stern response from Vice President Lai Ching-te, who is the DPP leadership.
"If it's useless words, it's better to say less," Lai said bluntly during his presentation, followed by a loud round of applause.
