TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The ruling Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) candidate for the Taipei legislative by-election Enoch Wu (吳怡農) unveiled his first policies aimed at attracting voters on Wednesday (Dec. 8).
Wu proposed the relocation of the Taipei Songshan Airport, once the third runway is built. This idea has been at the core of all DPP candidates running in Taipei for more than 10 years.
Wu also took the chance to challenge his opponent, opposition Kuomintang Taipei City Councilor Wang Hung-wei (王鴻薇) who proposed to extend the lives of nuclear power plants No. 2 and 3.
Wu said that his proposed plans are at least "realizable," and are not just empty promises that are "not constructive."
But, when reporters questioned the DPP’s plans for a nuclear-free homeland by 2025, Wu stumbled over his words.
"It seems to be, um, um, I was just going to talk about [...]," Wu said. "I feel like I am talking to [ Wang Hung-wei]'s spokesperson."
