昨天(4日)美國密爾沃基(Milwaukee)發生一起種族歧視犯罪，一名白人男子在發生口角後對拉丁裔美籍的男子維拉茲(Mahud Villalaz)潑酸，造成他左臉脖子都被二度燒傷，還說他是非法到美國的，要他「回自己國家」。
酸性液體迅速腐蝕維拉茲的左臉和脖子，他立刻衝進餐廳廁所，用清水沖臉想減輕傷害，送醫後，醫生表示腐蝕性的液體造成二度燒傷，他的左眼也受到刺激。目前募資平台go fund me上正為維拉茲募集醫療費，已經募得超過3萬4千美元(約100萬新台幣)。
