TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) issued a land wind advisory on Wednesday (Feb. 11), warning of strong winds in 12 counties and cities, including Taoyuan, Hsinchu, and Miaoli. Meteorologist Lin De-en (林得恩) predicts temperatures in northern and eastern regions will range from 23 to 28 degrees Celsius, while central and southern areas will reach 27 to 30 degrees Celsius.
Lin forecasted mostly sunny to partly cloudy weather across Taiwan from Friday (Feb. 13) to Sunday (Feb. 15), with only Taitung and Hengchun Peninsula experiencing isolated showers. He described this period as the "best time for pre-New Year cleaning." Lin also mentioned that a new front will pass through next Monday (Feb. 16), bringing brief showers to areas north of Taoyuan, Keelung, and the Yilan-Hualien region, along with isolated showers in Taitung and northern mountain areas.
The CWA indicated that from Friday to Sunday, the wind direction will shift to east to southeast, with cool mornings and warm, sunny days. They advised that next Monday (Feb. 16), the passing front and strengthened northeast monsoon will slightly lower temperatures in northern Taiwan, with brief showers expected on windward sides north of Taoyuan and in the Yilan-Hualien area.
Wu added that another northeast monsoon will move south around midday on Lunar New Year's Eve, bringing brief showers to Greater Taipei and the eastern regions, with cooler temperatures in northern Taiwan. The CWA stated that no significant cold weather is expected during the Lunar New Year holiday, though northern Taiwan may see occasional rain, and central and southern regions will experience large temperature differences between day and night, with warm, sunny days.
