TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The National Immigration Agency's Border Affairs Corps (移民署國境事務大隊) announced on Wednesday (Dec. 24) that it has fully implemented the online entry registration form (TWAC) for foreigners visiting Taiwan since Oct. 1. This service is free of charge and can be completed online within three days of arrival.

To prevent foreign travelers from falling victim to fraudulent websites charging fees, the Border Affairs Corps has created three types of postcards. These postcards, featuring QR codes that link to the official website, are distributed by airlines before boarding abroad and at various airports and ports upon arrival in Taiwan. The Border Affairs Corps aims to ensure all foreign travelers are informed about this new measure.

In addition to media, agency websites, and promotions from airlines and shipping companies, the agency has designed postcards featuring iconic Taiwanese imagery, including Taipei 101 (台北101), Liberty Square (自由廣場), bubble tea, and Taiwan's national flower, the plum blossom. During the Christmas and New Year holidays, officials will distribute these postcards to foreign travelers during inspections. The three major national airlines will assist in distributing them to travelers boarding flights to Taiwan from abroad.

The National Immigration Agency reminds travelers that the TWAC online registration is completely free and can be completed on the agency's official website within three days before their arrival in Taiwan. The agency cautions travelers to ensure they access the correct website when searching by keywords and warns that any site requiring payment is not official, urging travelers to remain vigilant.
