TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A Taiwan-Japan ceramic art exchange exhibition featuring 46 works opened at the Tsung-Yeh Arts and Culture Center (總爺藝文中心) in Tainan on Wednesday (Dec. 17). The exhibition showcases pieces from artists in both Taiwan and Japan, creating a cross-cultural dialogue between the two nations' ceramic traditions. The event marks a milestone in artistic cooperation between Tainan and Kyoto, Japan.
The Taiwan-Japan Friendship of Culture Exchange Foundation of Tainan City (台南市台日文化友好交流基金會) and the Kyoto Federation of Ceramics Association jointly organized the exhibition, the Tainan City Cultural Affairs Bureau (文化局) said. Eleven Kyoto ceramic artists contributed 25 pieces, while 21 Tainan artists presented 21 sets of works. The collaboration brings together established ceramic artists from both cities for the first time at this venue.
Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲), foundation chairman Li Tui-chih (李退之), and Kyoto city officials attended the opening ceremony on Wednesday morning. The leaders celebrated the exhibition as a milestone in ceramic art exchange between Tainan and Kyoto, two cities with deep historical and cultural ties. The event strengthens cultural cooperation between Taiwan and Japan through artistic collaboration.
Mayor Huang said he intends to continue enhancing exchanges between Tainan and Kyoto in various fields, including culture and education. He aims to bring the cities closer and foster friendships among citizens, hoping Tainan students will understand Taiwan-Japan cultural connections through art experiences. The mayor emphasized building lasting relationships between the two cities through continued artistic and educational cooperation.
