TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Northern Taiwan is experiencing cooler weather due to a northeast monsoon, with temperatures dropping to 16-18 degrees Celsius (60.8-64.4°F), according to Wu Der-romg (吳德榮) of National Central University (國立中央大學), on Tuesday (Nov. 25). The monsoon has increased low-level clouds, causing sporadic rain along the north coast and northeastern regions.

Wu noted that weather would dry in eastern Taiwan, while western Taiwan remains cloudy. The north is expected to cool, while central and southern Taiwan will have comfortable daytime temperatures, but cooler mornings and evenings. The monsoon is predicted to weaken by Wednesday, leading to more stable weather.

A new northeast monsoon is expected on Thursday, likely causing rain on windward sides. Wu predicts clearing weather by Friday (Nov. 28) as moisture moves east. However, radiation cooling could drop temperatures to 12 degrees Celsius (53.6°F) through Sunday (Nov. 30). A tropical depression may develop into Tropical Storm Koto (天琴), moving towards Vietnam, sparing Taiwan. ◼
