TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Typhoon Fung-wong (鳳凰颱風) weakened into a tropical depression on Thursday (Nov. 13), posing minimal impact on Taiwan. WeatherRisk Explore Inc. (天氣風險公司) reported that the northeast monsoon will influence the region, resulting in cloudy and rainy conditions in the northern and eastern parts of the island.
As the depression moves away on Friday (Nov. 14), moisture will decrease slightly. Northern and northeastern Taiwan will continue to experience cloudy and rainy weather, while other areas are expected to see improvements. Temperatures in the south may reach close to 30 degrees Celsius.
The situation will change again on Nov. 17 when a deepening trough from the north enhances the surface northeast monsoon. This will bring cloudy and rainy conditions back to the north and east, alongside a temperature drop. The period from Nov. 17 night to Nov. 18 is expected to be the coldest since winter began, with lows around 16 degrees Celsius in the north and significant cooling in central and southern regions.
The northeast monsoon will slightly weaken on Nov. 19, but the environment will remain dominated by northeastern winds. Nov. 20 and Nov. 21 will see increased moisture, leading to mostly cloudy skies with occasional showers across Taiwan. The northeast monsoon is expected to persist through the end of the month, with more active northern systems bringing progressively stronger cold air. The north may experience temperatures in the teens.
