TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Investors witnessed a robust performance in the Taipei stock market on Thursday (Nov. 6), as it closed with a gain of 182.39 points, reaching 27,899.45. This marked a 0.66% rise, with a transaction value of NT$499.167 billion. The market opened at 27,906.44, hitting an intraday high of 28,061.53 and a low of 27,879.7.
Among the eight major stock categories, paper stocks led with a 2.99% increase. Cement stocks followed with a 1.9% rise, while plastics and textiles saw gains of 1.12% and 1.08%, respectively. Macronix (旺宏), Nanya Technology (南亞科), Powerchip (力積電), Taiwan Glass (台玻), and China Petrochemical Development Corporation (中石化) topped the trading volume chart. Leadtrend (通嘉), Uniflex Technology (同泰), China Man-made Fiber Corporation (中纖), AVTECH (陞泰), and Chang Type Industrial Co. (錩泰) led the gains.
Conversely, WNC (啟碁), Sports Gear Group (志強-KY), AzureWave (海華), Lung Hwa Electronics (隴華), and Vietnam Manufacturing and Export Processing (越南控-DR) experienced the steepest declines. The rebound in U.S. stocks on Thursday (Nov. 5) helped the Taipei market reclaim the 28,000-point threshold during intraday trading, despite Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (台積電) closing at its lowest point of the day due to selling pressure.
The three major weighted stocks all ended in positive territory. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company rose NT$5, or 0.34%, closing at NT$1,465. Foxconn (鴻海) increased by NT$1, or 0.4%, to NT$248, and Delta Electronics (台達電) climbed NT$11, or 1.14%, to NT$978. ASPEED (信驊) announced record third-quarter earnings yesterday, with a single-quarter profit of NT$32.12 per share and a year-to-date after-tax profit of NT$72.23 per share, driving its stock to hit the daily limit at NT$5,810.
