TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taichung (台中) has become a cultural hotspot as it hosts the 21st Taichung Jazz Festival from Oct. 17 to 26. The event brings together top jazz musicians from 15 countries, offering a diverse musical experience. This festival not only showcases Taichung's rich jazz history but also highlights its vibrant cultural scene.
The Taichung City Government's Cultural Affairs Bureau will present two ticketed concerts on Oct. 24 and 25. The concerts feature the farewell tour of "New York Voices" (紐約之聲) and performances by the Japanese band "Gentle Forest 5 & Gentle Forest Sisters."
A diverse lineup of jazz artists from the U.S., Denmark, France, Japan, New Zealand, and Taiwan will perform, including "New York Voices & TJO" (New York Voices & 台北爵士大樂隊), "Nana Rashid Quartet," and "Estelle Quartet" (張婷雅四重奏). These performances promise a rich auditory experience through multilingual singing and cross-cultural exchanges.
In addition to jazz, Taichung's appeal extends to its culinary offerings, with 63 restaurants featured in the MICHELIN Guide Taiwan 2025, including six Michelin-starred establishments. Taichung's allure continues with the Shuei Liou Dong Wine Festival on Oct. 25, combining wine, African drums, electronic music, and street performances for a unique aesthetic experience.
