TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kaohsiung's Department of Tourism (高雄市觀光局) announced the food stall line-up on Wednesday (Oct. 15) for the 2025 Kaohsiung Fried Chicken Festival (2025高雄鹹酥雞嘉年華). The fried food festival will take place at the city's Far Eastern Department Store (大遠百) on Nov. 15 and 16. Organizers aim to surpass previous years in terms of scale, promising an exciting culinary celebration.
Min-lin Kao (高閔琳), director of the Department of Tourism, revealed in a press release that this year's festival will feature 65 popular stores and award-winning brands. She added that public will vote on-site to determine that year's best fried chicken, highlighting the event's interactive nature.
The department released a list of participating vendors, including Taipei's Grand Hotel (圓山大飯店), Fullon Hotel (福容大飯店), and H2O Hotel (H2O水京棧國際酒店). Hong Yu (宏裕行) plans to showcase creative seafood dishes alongside classic Taiwanese fried foods such as "Maruyama Salted Chicken" (丸山鹹酥雞) and "Yuxing Fried Chicken" (御興炸雞). Last year's winner of the popular award, "Zeng Jia's Little Kitchen" (曾佳小廚), will also return to the competition.
Brands from other counties across Taiwan will also sell their fried fare at the festival. International flavors will also be available, with American, Korean, Hong Kong-style, Japanese, Thai, and French influences offering a global twist to the festivities. In addition, five vegetarian brands will participate to cater to diverse dietary preferences.
