TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Chen Wen-Hui (陳玟卉) won bronze in the women's 69-kilogram category at the World Weightlifting Championships in Norway Wednesday (Oct. 8). She secured the podium finish with a clean and jerk lift of 132 kilograms despite battling a persistent back injury. The injury prevented her from attempting a heavier 136-kilogram lift.

Chen successfully lifted 100 kilograms in the snatch but failed attempts at 104 and 105 kilograms. Her combined total of 232 kilograms placed her fifth overall in the competition. Coach Huang Ta-te (黃達德) expressed satisfaction with her performance, noting Chen's top-five potential despite the back injury.

Huang revealed Chen is adapting to her new weight class while preparing for Taiwan's National Games. The athlete targets the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya as her next major competition. Huang noted potential new weight classes for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics could impact lightweight athletes significantly. ◼
