They defeated Malaysia's Goh Soon Huat (吳塤閥) and Shevon Jemie Lai (賴潔敏) in three sets, winning 21-6, 16-21, 21-12. The victory advances Taiwan's 18th-ranked duo to the next round of the international badminton tournament.
The world's 18th-ranked Taiwanese pair faced Malaysia's 8th-ranked duo for the first time. Ye and Chan dominated the opening game with aggressive front-court play and powerful back-court smashes, securing an 11-3 lead before winning 21-6. The Taiwanese pair struggled in the second game, faltering after a 6-6 tie and losing 16-21.
Ye and Chan trailed 2-7 in the decisive third game before adjusting their strategy. Chan's exceptional front-court performance helped them rally to a commanding 21-12 victory. Taiwanese men's singles player Chou Tien-chen (周天成) lost to France's Christo Popov in a 72-minute battle, falling 11-21, 21-18, 13-21 and missing the quarterfinals. ◼
