The semiconductor giant closed at NT$1,280 (around US$42.51), up NT$30 (around US$1.00), propelling Taiwan's stock market to a record high of 25,629.64 with 1.07% gains and NT$442.091 billion (around US$14.68 billion) in trading value.
Taiwan's stock market momentum built upon fresh highs achieved by U.S. indices S&P and Nasdaq a day earlier. Investors remained focused on the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting, particularly officials' perspectives on inflation trends and employment conditions. Electronic sector performance showed mixed results, with Foxconn (鴻海) declining NT$0.5 (around US$0.02) to close at NT$215.5 (around US$7.15), while MediaTek (聯發科) surged NT$50 (around US$1.66) to NT$1,535 (around US$50.97).
Market excitement intensified around NVIDIA's (輝達) announcement regarding plans to upgrade its Rubin processors with silicon carbide (SiC) technology. The news sent SiC suppliers GlobalWafers Co., Ltd. (環球晶) and Episil-Precision Inc. (嘉晶) soaring to their daily limit-up prices at NT$449.5 (around US$14.93) and NT$54 (around US$1.79) respectively.
