TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese pitcher Teng Kai-wei (鄧愷威) delivered a commanding performance Tuesday (Sept. 16) for the San Francisco Giants against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Major League Baseball action. The right-hander pitched four solid innings, striking out five batters while allowing only one unearned run in an impressive outing. Teng did not factor into the final decision despite his strong showing on the mound for the Giants.
ESPN projects Teng will make his next start against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sept. 21 after receiving four days of rest between appearances. The Giants launched a three-game series with the Diamondbacks Tuesday (Sept. 16) before transitioning to face the Dodgers in a four-game series beginning Friday (Sept. 19). Logan Webb and Robbie Ray are expected to handle starting duties for the first two games against Los Angeles.
The Dodgers matchup will present a formidable challenge for Teng, who must face elite hitters including Japanese superstar Shohei Ohtani (大谷翔平), Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman. Teng has appeared in seven Major League Baseball games this season, starting six contests with a record of two wins and four losses. Over 26 2/3 innings pitched, he has surrendered 28 hits and 22 runs while recording 33 strikeouts, compiling a 6.41 earned run average. ◼
