CHANGHUA (TVBS News) — Torrential rains from a southwest air current triggered flooding that swept at least two vehicles into an overflowing drainage ditch in Xiangshan Village (香山里), Changhua County, early Thursday (July 31). Police immediately established traffic control measures after the dramatic incident, which fortunately resulted in no injuries despite the powerful floodwaters that breached the drainage system.

Police discovered four unoccupied vehicles clustered together near Section 3 of Zhangnan Road (彰南路三段) in Changhua City at 6:52 a.m., where floodwaters had pushed them into collision. Officers immediately deployed traffic cones and contacted vehicle owners, recommending they arrange towing services when weather conditions improved. The police station confirmed they had implemented traffic control measures at 1:33 a.m., maintaining safety protocols throughout the flooding incident.

Local residents described their shock at witnessing vehicles being swept into floodwaters, though they expressed relief that both incidents concluded without casualties. Emergency officials maintain close surveillance of the developing weather situation while urging community members to exercise caution and stay informed about meteorological updates. Authorities stress the critical need for continued vigilance and emergency preparedness as the persistent weather pattern threatens additional flooding incidents. ◼
