TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taiwan Professional Basketball League (TPBL, 台灣職業籃球大聯盟) accused P. LEAGUE+ (PLG) of breaching trust in their collaboration on Friday (July 25), announcing that future discussions will only occur under the premise of a merger between the two leagues.
TPBL stated that multiple negotiations were held with PLG to establish a foundation of trust and work toward a 'collaborate first, merge later' strategy. The league revealed that PLG had promised not to pursue establishing a fourth team if the leagues collaborated. However, after reaching a preliminary consensus, PLG allegedly engaged with potential new teams, undermining the trust built during discussions.
To prevent similar incidents, TPBL emphasized that any future talks with PLG will focus solely on a merger, abandoning the phased cooperation model. The league expressed its willingness to move forward with partners who share mutual respect and trust, aiming to create a new chapter for Taiwanese basketball.
