TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Transportation Minister Chen Shih-kai (陳世凱) inspected the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR, 台灣高鐵) operation control center in Taoyuan on Monday (July 7) morning, expressing gratitude to all units for their swift response. Typhoon Danas disrupted rail services in the southern region, but officials reported a full resumption of services by 9:40 a.m.

Chen noted that the THSR and Taiwan Railway (台鐵) experienced interruptions on Sunday night, with Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan being the most affected areas. Shih Che (史哲), THSR chairman, explained that strong winds from the typhoon caused debris to trigger a safety shutdown, involving over 600 passengers. However, quick restoration efforts enabled a full reopening of services this morning.

Chen emphasized that while the typhoon posed challenges, the highway systems remained relatively safe. The Freeway Bureau (高速公路局) managed to swiftly clear obstructions after a temporary closure, ensuring smooth traffic flow. Officials expect the Taiwan Railway's affected Douliu (斗六) to Tainan section to resume services later in the afternoon.

As Taiwan recovers from Typhoon Danas, authorities prioritize safety and transportation efficiency. Travelers should remain informed of any updates as restoration efforts progress.
