KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — The Kaohsiung City Government will manage Chengcing Lake (澄清湖) beginning July 1, allowing free entry for all national tourists. Previously, only Kaohsiung residents enjoyed free admission. The Parks Office (公園處) announced that the park's opening hours will vary seasonally, with summer hours from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. and winter hours from 5 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Officials plan to enhance the park's environment by maintaining plantings, leveling roads, and optimizing pedestrian paths. They will also add four parking lots to improve accessibility. Despite the change in management, the government will continue to rely on the water company's expertise to manage the lake's water resources and maintain the reservoir's water areas.
Given the park's hilly terrain, the government will strengthen environmental maintenance and regulate runoff from the golf course to ensure the reservoir's water quality. Various municipal departments have started integrated planning to connect Chengcing Lake with Yuanshan Green Space (圓山綠地), Niaosong Wetland (鳥松濕地), Kaohsiung Golf Course, and Shuanghu Park (雙湖公園). This initiative aims to create Kaohsiung's largest water and green recreation park.
