KAOHSIUNG (TVBS News) — The global K-pop sensation BLACKPINK will make a highly anticipated appearance in southern Taiwan this fall, Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) revealed Tuesday (May 27) through a Facebook announcement. The performances, scheduled for Oct. 18 and 19 at the Kaohsiung National Stadium (高雄國家體育場), Taiwan's largest outdoor venue, have already generated tremendous excitement among BLIИK fans nationwide. These concerts represent the group's only Asian performances outside their home country of South Korea and neighboring Japan.
Concert promoter Live Nation Taiwan (理想國), the local branch of the global entertainment company, has released essential ticketing details for the event. Tickets will become available starting June 12 at 11 a.m. through Taiwan's popular tixCraft (拓元) ticketing platform. Both performances will commence at 6:30 p.m. In his announcement, Mayor Chen enthusiastically noted that the four-member girl group would perform their chart-topping hits including "DDU-DU DDU-DU," "Kill This Love," and "How You Like That," while extending an invitation for fans to experience Kaohsiung's hospitality.
The announcement has sparked widespread conversation among music enthusiasts across social media platforms, with many expressing hopes that additional international performers might consider Kaohsiung for future tours, specifically mentioning artists like Lady Gaga, fellow K-pop group Twice, global phenomenon BTS, and rock artist Avril Lavigne. The palpable excitement surrounding BLACKPINK's upcoming performances reflects both the quartet's massive global influence and Kaohsiung's emerging reputation as a significant venue for international entertainment events. Concert organizers advise interested attendees to monitor official channels for additional information and prepare for what is expected to be an extremely competitive ticket sale in June. ◼
