TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) directed the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW, 衛福部) to meticulously plan psychological support and allowance calculations for medical staff during a Cabinet meeting on Thursday (Feb. 27). This directive aims to address overcrowding in hospital emergency rooms efficiently.
Cho emphasized the need for strict implementation of improvement measures to use medical resources efficiently following the persistent emergency room demand after the Lunar New Year holiday. He expressed gratitude to all medical personnel, particularly those on the front lines, urging hospitals to pay attention to their work environment and emotional well-being.
The premier also mentioned preliminary talks with the Examination Yuan (考試院) about a unified recruitment platform to supplement nursing staff in the future. He encouraged participation from all ministries, particularly the MOHW, to enhance nursing manpower.
Moreover, he further pointed out that improvement measures should still continue in already improved hospitals and extend to others to enhance the triage system. Cho instructed the MOHW to collaborate with local health units in the short term to assist citizens with emergency room needs.
