TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Coast Guard Administration (CGA, 海巡署) detected Chinese Coast Guard ships (CCG, 中國海警) in the waters of southern Kinmen on Thursday (Feb. 20), promptly dispatching patrol boats to monitor and respelling the incursion.
At 2:50 p.m., the Chinese vessels, identified as "14515," "14605," "14608," and "14602" each, entered restricted waters southeast of Liaoluo (料羅) and south of Zhaishan (翟山). In response the CGA's Kingmen-Matsu-Penghu Branch (金馬澎分隊) deployed four patrol boats to confront the CCG ships, broadcasting radio warnings for them to leave immediately. By 5 p.m., the Chinese vessels exited the waters.
The CGA noted that this incident marked the second intrusion by CCG's ships into Kinmen's restricted waters this week, following a similar event on Feb. 14. The administration remarked that this year alone, Chinese vessels have intruded the area 59 times. Confronting China's challenges and threats, the CGA reiterated its commitment to responding assertively, vowing that the authority will continue to safeguard national security.
