TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) noted on Wednesday (Feb. 19) that the continental cold air mass would gradually weaken throughout the day, leading to a slight temperature increase. Wu stated that a weather front would pass through Friday, bringing brief showers to the north and east as cold air moves south, causing temperatures to drop.
Wu predicted a continuous temperature rise on Thursday, with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies across Taiwan and a chance of fog. The Greater Taipei area, eastern regions, the north coast, and the east half of the island may have sporadic showers, while the western half remains mostly sunny to partly cloudy.
Furthermore, Wu added that, from Saturday to next Monday, a strong cold air mass may lower temperatures below 10 degrees in some lowland areas. Meanwhile, the coldest period will occur between Sunday evening and Monday morning. However, to determine if it will reach the intensity of a strong continental cold air mass, Wu said that further observation is required.
Next week, from Tuesday (Feb. 25) to Thursday (Feb. 27), a warm air mass will bring spring-like weather, with fog likely, ensuring temperatures remain mild through the end of February. Wu mentioned that a rapidly passing front on Friday might bring inconspicuous cold air, warranting close monitoring of the latest data.
