TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Ministry of Labor's Bureau of Labor Insurance (BLI, 勞保局) reported on Monday (Feb. 17) that 1,870,922 retirees received Old-Age Pension Benefits (勞保老年年金) in 2024, among which 53.7% received less than NT$20,000 monthly.
Meanwhile, 178,927 received under NT$10,000, and 825,599 received between NT$10,000 and NT$20,000.
The average age for claiming the Old-Age Pension Benefits of Labor Insurance last year was 61.42 years, with an average monthly payment of NT$19,344, an increase of NT$520 from the previous year. Women outnumbered men in receiving pensions, and in terms of monthly pension amounts, 728,153 retirees received between NT$20,000 and NT$30,000, while 129,974 received between NT$30,000 and NT$40,000. Only 8,269 retirees received more than NT$40,000.
There is a gender disparity, with men receiving an average of NT$20,683 monthly, which is NT$2,457 more than women, who average NT$18,226. The average insured salary for retirees stood at NT$38,022, with men earning NT$39,617 and women NT$36,669.
