TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT, 國民黨) Chairman Eric Chu (朱立倫) met with the Taiwan-U.S. Policy Program (TUPP, 台美政策計畫) delegation from the German Marshall Fund (GMF, 德國馬歇爾基金會) on Monday (Feb. 17) to emphasize the party's commitment to fostering Taiwan-U.S. cooperation.

During the meeting, Chu highlighted the KMT's dedication to regional peace and stability by collaborating with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP, 民進黨).

Speaking at the KMT's central headquarters, Chu engaged in an in-depth discussion with Jude Blanchette, director of the China Research Center at RAND Corporation, focusing on Taiwan-U.S. relations and energy issues. The KMT chairman underscored the critical nature of energy matters, linking stable energy supply to the development of Taiwan's high-tech and AI industries, which he described as vital to national security.

Chu stated that the KMT will adhere to a dual strategy of "defense" and "dialogue" (2D戰略) while ensuring it does not become a "troublemaker." As the leader of the largest opposition party, Chu expressed his willingness to work with the DPP for Taiwan's future, urging President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) to choose cooperation over conflict.
