TAIPEI (TVBS News) — EVA Air (長榮航空) unveiled its fourth-generation Premium Economy Class (豪華經濟艙) on Monday (Feb. 17), aiming to enhance passenger comfort and boost revenue.

President Sun Chia-ming (孫嘉明) led the launch event, showcasing the new seats installed in Boeing 787-9 aircraft that will serve the Jakarta, Munich, Milan, and Vienna routes.

Sun emphasized the strong post-pandemic demand for air travel, citing a Civil Aviation Administration (民航局) prediction of over 10% passenger growth in 2025.

EVA Air, a pioneer in establishing the Premium Economy class since 1992, equipped the new upgrade with 28 seats, each offering a 42-inch seat pitch and a 15.6-inch high-definition screen.

The airline stated that the Boeing 787-9 aircraft, fitted with the new Premium Economy Class, uses 30% sustainable aviation fuel on return flights to Taiwan, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 63,000 kilograms.

To enhance the customer experience and strengthen its operations, EVA Air plans to upgrade its fleet with eight 787-9 and five 787-10 aircraft by 2029 and 18 A350-1000 aircraft beginning in 2027.
