TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) on Monday (Feb. 17) urged civil servants to leverage AI for innovation and flexibility within Taiwan's public sector.
During a meeting at the Presidential Office (總統府) with representatives of the 2024 Model Civil Servants (模範公務員), President Lai highlighted Taiwan's domestic and international challenges, calling on civil servants to embrace AI and their expertise for bold innovation.
Lai thanked the model civil servants, praising them as excellent partners across government departments and the backbone of Taiwan's public service, ensuring smooth government operations.
Lai emphasized the importance of health policies as Taiwan enters a super-aged society this year. He cited Wu Hsi-wen (吳希文), deputy director of the Department of Long-Term Care (長期照顧司) at the Ministry of Health and Welfare (衛生福利部), and praised her efforts in expanding long-term care coverage to over 80%, a remarkable achievement.
