TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) will convene a high-level national security meeting on Friday (Feb. 14) to address the U.S. reciprocal tariff plan announced by President Donald Trump a day earlier. This meeting aims to discuss the significant impact on Taiwan-U.S. trade relations and other bilateral issues.
Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) and National Security Council Secretary-General Joseph Wu (吳釗燮) will join other top national security and economic officials at the meeting.
Secretary-General to the President, Pan Men-an (潘孟安), previously stated that the administration will continue to closely monitor U.S. policies and maintain strong communication and collaboration.
Pan emphasized the consensus between Taiwan and the U.S. to jointly face global challenges and enhance their industrial national interests, strengthening bilateral relations. As the situation unfolds, stakeholders in both nations will likely focus on how these discussions could shape future trade dynamics.
