Rain expected across Taiwan by Wednesday (TVBS News)

TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A cold wave slightly weakened on Monday (Feb. 10) morning, yet radiative cooling kept temperatures low, around 8 to 9 degrees Celsius across Taiwan, meteorologist Daniel Wu (吳德榮) reported. He noted that the weather will warm up today and tomorrow, with increased moisture leading to rain from south to north across the island by next Wednesday.

The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署) issued a cold weather advisory early Monday morning, highlighting extremely cold conditions due to the cold wave.

The lowest temperatures recorded early this morning were 5.2 degrees in Sanwan Township (三灣鄉), Miaoli County, and 5.8 degrees in Emei Township (峨眉鄉), Hsinchu County. Northern Miaoli and parts of Yilan may continue to experience temperatures around 10 degrees or below 6 degrees, with similar conditions expected in Lienchiang County.

Wu advised that while rain will spread from south to north next Wednesday, no cold air will accompany it. However, daytime temperatures could drop slightly due to cloud cover and rain. He added that a front carrying southern moisture will pass through next Thursday, bringing widespread significant rainfall. Although the cold air behind the front won't be strong, temperatures in northern Taiwan will noticeably drop, turning cooler.
