TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A social media marketing platform analyzed online discussions about "gift-giving considerations during the festive season" from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1 to determine what to watch out for when gifting presents during the Lunar New Year. They found that gold and red packaging are the most popular for Lunar New Year gifts. Many social media users believe gold symbolizes prosperity, while red represents joy. Both colors convey good luck in traditional culture, according to Social Lab (社群實驗室).
Consumers should plan their gift deliveries early, as freight volumes increase during the festive period. To ensure arrival before the Lunar New Year, arranging deliveries in advance is crucial. In addition, the report suggested avoiding insufficient quantities when gifting, as the intention is to provide enjoyment, and small portions might be perceived as ungenerous.
Selecting practical gifts based on the recipient's preferences and dietary habits can also enhance the gifting experience. It is advisable to avoid items with negative connotations or homophones and to be mindful of the gift's price to prevent causing undue pressure on the recipient. These considerations can ensure the spirit of generosity and celebration remains intact during the festive season.
