TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan Power (Taipower, 台電) announced on Thursday (Dec. 26) its recruitment plans for 2025, offering 1,084 positions across 15 categories, including distribution, transmission, and electrical engineering. Starting salaries reach nearly NT$39,000. Taipower emphasized its commitment to stable power supply and net-zero transition goals in a press release. The company is investing in strengthening grid resilience and actively recruiting power professionals through this exam.
Successful candidates will undergo a year of training and job preparation and play a crucial role in safeguarding the nation's power supply. To attract talent, the company will increase starting salaries for training positions from NT$32,000 to NT$36,000 beginning in 2025. Power technicians meeting specific criteria may qualify for further salary increments, raising starting pay to nearly NT$39,000. The recruitment focuses on maintaining core technical expertise within the industry, especially as retirement trends increase.
The largest number of openings is for distribution line maintenance, with 489 positions. Other categories include transmission line maintenance with 123 slots, comprehensive administration with 108, substation maintenance with 104, electrical operation and maintenance with 53, mechanical operation and maintenance with 41, transmission line engineering with 34, civil engineering with 25, and transmission civil engineering with 24.
Applicants with a high school diploma can apply from Jan. 2-15, and the initial exams are scheduled for May 4 in Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung, and Hualien. Taipower plans to announce preliminary exam results on July 15, 2025. The second round of exams, including practical and oral tests, will occur on Aug. 5 in Taipei.
