TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Apple announced on Tuesday (Dec. 17) the most downloaded apps and games for 2024, revealing that Threads, a social platform under Meta, topped Taiwan's list of free iPhone apps. Shadowrocket, a VPN tool known for bypassing internet restrictions, led the paid app category.
According to the App Store's annual rankings, Taiwan's top 10 free iPhone apps include McDonald's, Coupang, ChatGPT, Taiwan EEW (台灣地震速報), TikTok, Google, Google Meet, YouBike, and Instagram. These apps reflect a diverse range of user interests, from social networking to productivity and entertainment.
In the paid app category, Shadowrocket was followed by AutoSleep Track Sleep on Watch, Mountain Diary (山林日誌), Ghostly Detector, and Phraseboard Keyboard. Other popular downloads included Procreate Pocket, Forest: Focus for Productivity, 1SecMoney, Lokai Navigator (樂客導航王) 3D Pro, and AnkiMobile Flashcards. These apps cater to users seeking enhanced functionality and creative tools.
For iPhone games, the top free game was "Xiu Xiu God (咻咻封神)," a strategy game with a cartoon style. "Minecraft: Play with Friends," which allows users to create virtual worlds, led the paid games category, demonstrating the continued popularity of immersive gaming experiences among Taiwanese users.
