TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of Finance's Taxation Administration (財政部賦稅署) announced Friday (Nov. 29) that the deadline for paying the 2024 land value tax, originally set for Saturday, has been extended to next Monday due to a holiday.

According to the Land Tax Act (土地稅法) and the Tax Collection Act (稅捐稽徵法), taxpayers who miss the deadline face a penalty of 1% on the overdue amount every three days, up to a maximum of 10%. If payment is not made within 30 days, authorities will initiate compulsory enforcement.

This year, the number of households subject to the land value tax increased by 1.98% to approximately 9.12 million, with the estimated tax amount reaching NT$99.6 billion, a 7.03% increase from 2023. On average, each household will pay NT$10,921, which is NT$452 more than last year's NT$10,469.

Tax collection began on Nov. 1. The administration urged taxpayers to pay promptly to avoid penalties and advised taxpayers who have lost or not yet received their payment notices to contact their local tax collection agency for a replacement or apply online through the tax portal.
