TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A cold wave prompted weather alerts in eight counties across Taiwan on Friday (Nov. 29), while the lowest temperature was recorded in Shiding (石碇), New Taipei at 7.8 degrees Celsius, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署).
Meteorologist Lin Te-en (林得恩) advised that while daytime temperatures will rise due to sunlight, the low moisture levels will keep most areas sunny and stable. However, the eastern and southeastern regions may experience sporadic showers. Lin also emphasized the significant temperature difference between day and night, recommending that people dress warmly to maintain their health.
The cold air has increased the likelihood of temperatures falling below 10°C in areas north of Miaoli (苗栗) and parts of Yilan (宜蘭) this morning. The weather bureau issued cold weather alerts for New Taipei City (新北市), Keelung City (基隆市), Taipei City (台北市), Taoyuan City (桃園市), Hsinchu City (新竹市), Hsinchu County (新竹縣), Miaoli County, and Yilan County, advising residents to stay vigilant.
The CWA forecasted the impact of the continental cold air mass and radiative cooling will continue through Saturday morning, increasing the chances of below 10°C from night to early morning. Residents should prepare accordingly and monitor updates for any changes in weather conditions.
