TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) announced on Tuesday (Nov. 26) that the government will continue to increase salaries for military, public, and educational personnel by 3% next year. Cho expressed hope Taiwan's wage structure would develop favorably and encouraged private enterprises to support and motivate their employees.
The Chinese National Association of Industry and Commerce (CNAIC, 工商協進會) hosted a meeting, inviting Cho and other department heads to discuss economic development issues. Speaking at the meeting, Cho emphasized the government's economic goals, aiming for a growth rate above 3%, a per capita GDP of over US$40,000, an unemployment rate below 3.5%, and maintaining the consumer price index at a balanced 2%.
Cho outlined policy directions, focusing on five key industries: semiconductors, AI, military, security control, and next-generation communications. He also mentioned the 2050 net-zero carbon emission target and an NT$50 billion development fund, with plans to establish related funds for cultural and creative industries, health, and green growth.
Wu Tung-liang (吳東亮), chairman of the association, highlighted Taiwan's victory in the WBSC Premier 12 baseball tournament. He noted how the team, initially underestimated, made history and expressed hope that the business community could embody this spirit and collaborate with the government.
