TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's baseball team will receive a hero's welcome at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (桃園國際機場) on Monday (Nov. 25) after their historic victory over Japan in the WBSC Premier12 tournament a day earlier. The team, scheduled to arrive at 8:55 p.m. on Monday, will be honored with a water cannon salute, marking their championship win with a 4-0 score.
Taoyuan International Airport Corporation (桃園機場公司) will host the water gate ceremony at Terminal 2's D5 tarmac, providing designated areas for media coverage and public reception. President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) congratulated the team and announced plans for a high-profile reception, including an F-16 fighter jet escort on Sunday evening.
Lai also expressed intentions to meet the national team at the Presidential Office (總統府) and host a victory parade to highlight Taiwan's achievements. He emphasized that the team's success showcases Taiwan's strength beyond its semiconductor industry.
The team will return on China Airlines Flight CI105 from Tokyo, with airport staff increasing guidance for their arrival. As Taiwan celebrates this milestone, the international community is reminded of the nation's prowess in baseball.
