TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Chinese Taipei baseball team captain on Tuesday (Nov. 19) expressed his gratitude for the support from fans at the Taipei Dome (台北大巨蛋) and voiced his hopes for a strong performance at the Tokyo Dome (東京巨蛋). The 2024 WBSC Premier 12 preliminary round concluded with Taiwan securing a spot in the semifinals with a 4-1 record.
Wearing sunglasses, Captain Chen Chie-hsien (陳傑憲) appeared at the airport early in the morning. He admitted feeling out of sync due to Taiwan's habit of evening games but emphasized the need to adapt to Tokyo's 11 a.m. schedule. Following Monday's game, Chen noted that the players felt mentally and physically more relaxed. After a day of rest, the team will begin practice on Wednesday to adjust and prepare for the upcoming matches.
Chen expressed his honor in representing Taiwan amidst generational changes and hopes to bring pride and recognition to Tokyo. He stated that the energy felt at the Taipei Dome would be carried forward, urging accompanying fans to cheer loudly and promising, "We will do our best and give 100% to achieve great results for Taiwan." As the team heads to Tokyo, fans eagerly anticipate their performance, hoping the support and energy from Taipei will resonate in the Tokyo Dome.
