TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan secured a decisive 11-3 victory over Australia in the WBSC Premier 12 on Sunday (Nov. 17), advancing to the semifinals. The team will face Venezuela on Nov. 21 at the Tokyo Dome, followed by matches against the U.S. on Nov. 22 and Japan on Nov. 23.
Venezuela topped Group A with a 4-1 record, while the U.S. secured the second spot with a 3-2 record. Japan narrowly defeated Cuba 7-6, joining Taiwan in advancing to the Group B semifinals. Taiwan's head coach, Tseng Hao-chu (曾豪駒), expressed gratitude for the players' efforts and looked forward to a thrilling rematch against Japan.
Taiwan previously lost to Japan 1-3 in the preliminary rounds. Tseng hopes to turn the tables in the upcoming semifinals. He stated that every game is a new beginning, and they must give it their all. The coach appreciated the team's hard work in reaching Tokyo and stressed the importance of dedication and focus in each match.
