TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Over 93% of Taiwanese office workers view artificial intelligence (AI) as an essential workplace skill, according to a survey by a local job bank released on Wednesday (Nov. 13). A total of 51% of respondents already use AI at work, with the highest acceptance in the technology, finance, and mass communication sectors.
Employees cited personal interest (70.5%), increased work efficiency (68.7%), enhanced employment opportunities (56.3%), and adapting to market demands (54.2%) as reasons for using AI, indicated in the survey by 1111 Job Bank (1111人力銀行).
Self-study emerged as the most popular learning method at 74%, followed by online courses (57.9%), seminars or workshops (34.6%), advice from colleagues or friends (30.1%), and internal company training (18.4%).
Vivi Hwang (黃若薇), a spokesperson for 1111 Job Bank, highlighted the National Development Council's (國發會) forecast of a talent gap of 25,000 in the AI industry and a projected market value exceeding NT$1 trillion by 2026.
The technology sector leads AI development, with AI skills becoming fundamental for employees. The rise of digital finance has significantly altered the financial industry, requiring continuous AI skill development. In mass communication, AI is widely used to generate content, analyze user behavior, and enhance productivity and user experience.
Data from 1111 Job Bank indicated a 7% increase in AI job openings in 2024 compared to the previous year, underscoring the growing demand for AI talent across various industries.
