TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Economic Minister J. W. Kuo (郭智輝) announced on Friday (Nov. 1) that Taiwan will not purchase green energy if the price exceeds NT$4 per kilowatt-hour.

Before attending a Legislative Yuan (立法院) session, he made this statement, addressing previous discussions on importing green energy from the Philippines.

Kuo explained that experts calculated the NT$4 price point, aligning with similar European practices. He emphasized the importance of meeting environmental requirements when buying green energy.

When asked if Taiwan would cancel plans to purchase electricity from the Philippines if costs exceed NT$4, Kuo described this as a hypothetical scenario, indicating that decisions would depend on specific circumstances.
